OVERVIEW:

The Development & Marketing Manager provides dynamic leadership in the oversight of donor outreach, special event coordination, marketing outreach implementation and grant management.

As the official nonprofit partner of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Rainbow Bridge National Monument, Glen Canyon Conservancy is dedicated to enriching connections between visitors and area residents to this unique landscape. Through the promotion of interpretive sales, diverse recreational opportunities and educational initiatives, we foster stewardship of the history, culture and natural beauty of Glen Canyon for current and future generations.

GCC’s retail outlets are located at Carl Hayden Visitor Center in Page, Navajo Bridge Interpretive Center in Marble Canyon and at our headquarters in Page. GCC also operates the Powell Museum & Archives. This position will retain a regular office presence at headquarters, with remote fieldwork and travel expected occasionally. Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed is required.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The Development & Marketing Manager is responsible for the following:

DONOR ENGAGEMENT & GIVING STRATEGY – 60%

  • Design and implement a comprehensive strategy to increase giving in all areas of development, including annual giving, major and planned giving, grant applications and capital campaigns.
  • Increase donor base by expanding GCC’s reach outside of the immediate region.
  • Implement strategies for identifying and nurturing relationships with prospective donors (e.g., individuals, corporate partners and foundations).
  • Oversee grants program, including work related to grant writing and reports, proposal development and submission, relationship building and the timely submission of grant proposals.
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment and a culture of philanthropy among associates, donors, volunteers and partners.
  • Work with GCC Retail Operations Manager and Information Specialists to develop targeted park engagement in philanthropic efforts and programs onsite at our retail outlets.
  • Lead and inspire staff and board to participate in philanthropic activities.
  • Provide leadership and capacity on board and community committees as requested by the Executive Director.

MARKETING STRATEGY – 40%

  • Create a marketing plan in collaboration with managers and Executive Director.
  • Providing administrative support for fundraising efforts, such as keeping Customer Relationship Management database and Mailchimp database up to date, as well as sending donor thank you’s.
  • Creating regular email communication through Mailchimp to our constituents, including monthly newsletter.
  • Cultivates GCC presence on social media platforms, primarily Instagram and Facebook.  This includes creating a social media calendar with engaging content using text, image and video.
  • Collaborating with coworkers to arrange and work booths at community events.
  • Creating visually-appealing marketing material for GCC. This includes store branding/sales signage, collateral material, brochures, annual reports, membership materials, fundraising appeals, event invitations and flyers etc.
  • Updates website regularly and increasing web engagement via Google AdGrants.
  • In collaboration with Retail Store Manager, oversees AZ Visitor Center information at Flagship.
  • Generates reports for monthly board meetings, including Google Analytics, social media trends, etc.
  • Assists with the planning of fundraising, programming and employee events.

KEYS TO SUCCESS (THE MUST-HAVES)

To be successful in this job, you will excel in these areas:

Hard skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum three years of professional experience in development, fundraising and sales or marketing.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, development and donor management, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
  • Experience in developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Knowledge of the national park system and a passion for conservation and outdoor recreation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, donor management software, and marketing automation tools, such as Adobe Suite and social media platforms.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for donor meetings, conferences and events.

Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000

Salary is commensurate with experience. GCC provides a comprehensive benefits package. Following a 30-day introductory period, you will be eligible for a broad array of benefits, including vacation and holiday pay, sick leave, employer-supplemented health benefits package including medical, dental, vision, SIMPLE IRA and discounts in our park.
